Unit Overview

Students explore legends’ heroes and a day of Yuriy Gagarin's life linking folklore, art and history together. Students will be reflecting on heroes features and actions.

Enduring Understanding

Every hero is a human, but not every human is a hero.
Real people and their significant actions may become legends.
Every true hero is a patriot of her/his/their country.
Bravery, respect to labor, love to the home country drive heroes’ actions.
Heroes’ qualities and values are intercultural.

What makes someone a hero?
What does a day in the life of a hero look like?
Is every hero a patriot?
What are heroes’ values and beliefs?
Are heroes’ qualities and values intercultural?
